Staycation at the Sheraton Carlsbad

Why do weekends need to end so fast? And they somehow end even faster whenever we are on vacation.

This past weekend we stayed at the Sheraton Carlsbad and it was just what we all needed. The girls were craving some pool time and I was in need of a weekend of no-cooking- and frankly, we all just needed to get out of the house.

We’ve stayed at a few hotels since the pandemic and I was really impressed with how the Sheraton Carlsbad added extra safety precautions to keep everyone at the property safe.

  • All hotel rooms are sealed with a sticker to show they have been sanitized before checking into your room
  • Hand sanitizers are located EVERYWHERE- even the elevator had one inside so you can sanitize right after pushing the buttoms
  • The pool has limited capacity (70 people) and a waiting list once it is full. It opens at 11 AM and I suggest going at that time or heading down to the pool to put your name down so you can get on the waiting list. We did this right before brunch and once we were done we were able to go in the pool area!

The pool was seriously a dream for the girls. A beach entrance gave us all the tropical vibes and the girls spent all day on the pool slide, while Danny and I enjoyed relaxing out in the sun.

The 7 Mile restaurant is also located on site at the hotel. We went to eat there the first night we arrived and it was SO good we went back for lunch the next day. We tried several different items and here are some of my top recommendations:

  • BBQ chips w/ bacon onion dip for an appetizer
  • Bianca pizza for your main course- delicious firestone pizza with ricotta and white sauce- I added prosciutto and it was sooo good.
  • Creme brulee cheesecake for desert- I am guilty of ordering this 2 days in a row because again, SO good.
  • Cucumber mascow mule- the perfect cocktail before a day at the pool

The girls also loved that their was a gelato shop on site, and they serve Starbucks there too! I can’t live without my morning chai tea lattes so this was a must for us.

Nearby you’ll also find:

  • The Carlsbad Outlets (one of the best in So-Cal)
  • Carlsbad Flower Fields (currently closed but open back up in the spring)
  • Carlsbad Beach
  • Carlsbad Village & Shops

We spent so much time at the pool that we didn’t get a chance to explore around the area but we loved the fact that the resort had a trolley that takes you right to the beach! It’s only a few miles away and this is such a nice added bonus since parking at the beach can take forever. Adding the trolley to our must-do on our next trip as I am sure we will be making it back out again soon!
