We recently visited Cancun and stayed at Club Med Cancún. The all-inclusive resort has so much to offer and it’s truly the ultimate destination for families looking to escape with a mix of luxury, natural beauty, and entertainment.
Club Med Cancún is the ultimate family resort and while I received a complimentary stay and compensation in exchange for this review, all opinions in this post are 100% my own.
Location
Cancun is located in southeastern Mexico and sits on the Caribbean Sea. The Caribbean Sea averages about 82 degrees year-round and is known for its crystal-clear waters, making it an ideal location for snorkeling, scuba diving, and other water activities.
Club Med Cancun is located at the tip of the Riviera Maya and has a pristine location with three white sand beaches on one side of the resort and a lagoon on the other side.
What makes Club Med Cancún unique is that each beach has something different to offer. If a party scene is your thing, you will be more inclined to hang out at the beach near Zona Hotelera.
If you are looking to dive into nature and the beauty of the Riviera Maya, you will find that on property as well. The beauty of this resort is that there is something for everyone.
Club Med Cancún is also located next to the world’s second largest coral reef, the Mesoamerican Reef. This reef is only second in size to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The resort offers snorkeling tours for those interested in experiencing a first-hand look at this majestic reef!
If you are traveling with kids, the ocean at the resort is shallow and clear, making it an ideal location for young kids to have some fun in the water. Don’t forget to pack your kids’ goggles because even by the shore you will be sure to find a variety of fish and sea life for you to explore together as a family!
What sets Club Med apart
Club Med has been around since 1950 and has nearly 70 all-inclusive beach and mountain resorts around the world.
Club Med is a truly unique experience, and the staff often takes part in your family activities and dinner. The staff, referred to as G.O.s or Gracious Organizers, go above and beyond to ensure you are having the best stay.
Club Med Cancún’s G.O. staff is made up of various nationalities from all around the world. It was really nice to see an international staff come together to provide entertainment and hospitality to vacation goers at the resort.
Club Med also plays a nod to their French heritage and the G.O staff at Club Med Cancún are all trilingual- speaking English, Spanish and French!
What’s included?
When you visit Club Med Cancun, the only worry you need to have is if you are able to make room for the endless gelato!
Club Med Cancún is an all-inclusive resort, which means food and beverage are included in the price of your stay. Note that there are exclusions to this with premium dining menu options and premium liquor. At Club Med Cancún, you will enjoy unlimited access to the resort’s bars and snack services all day long.
Land and sea activities, the incredible kids club, and nightly entertainment are all included with your stay as well.
All about Aguamarina
We rarely travel without the kids and we always opt for vacations that cater to the entire family, because we want everyone to have the best time.
Club Med Cancún is catered towards families and makes the kids feel like VIPs! The G.O.s go out of their way to ensure the kids are having the best time on their vacation, they join in on dance parties with them, and partake in family-friendly games.
Club Med Cancún also has a family-centered building and pool at the resort, which is the perfect place for families to book accommodations.
The Aguamarina building consists of family-friendly oceanfront rooms with easy access to the family-friendly infinity pool. Aguamarina also has its own reception and concierge service, making checking-in after a day of travel easy. The rooms are spacious to meet every family’s needs and give easy access to the incredible infinity pool, which is a part of Aguamarina.
If you are traveling with kids, you are likely to spend most of your time at the Aguamarina pool, but don’t worry, parents will also enjoy the full-service bar and snacks throughot the day.
Kids will enjoy the endless snack options (they even have a candy bar on tap), along with mocktails at the bar! The Aguamarina pool is also where you’ll find scheduled games, family yoga sessions, and pool parties. Parents are allowed to join in on the fun, or you can sit back and relax as you watch your kids have the time of their life with the G.O.s participating in the fun!
Dining
Club Med Cancún offers a wide selection of healthy and fresh food at the property’s three restaurants and snack bars.
You will find a mix of international delights and local specialties, and the food is some of the best I have ever had! You can really taste the quality of the food at all the restaurants, and they even have special menus catered for kids and babies. Vegetarian options are also available at all of the restaurants.
La Hacienda Restaurant
La Hacienda is located at the heart of the resort and offers Mexican, French, Italian, Asian, and seafood selections through a high-quality buffet. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has plenty of selections for everyone’s taste.
The buffet also has an amazing dessert selection and unlimited gelato! If you are traveling with a baby or a toddler, you will also enjoy the buffet section catered just for babies.
Taco Arte Beach Lounge
If you are looking to experience the authentic flavors of Mexico, you will want to make a reservation for dinner at Taco Arte. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with reservations only being needed in the evening.
The dining concept is really original as there is no menu and the food comes out in various courses and is served family style. The idea is to get a culinary tour through Mexico and enjoy the dishes together as a family.
Taco Arte also has sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. I highly recommend making a reservation for sunset to get the full experience.
La Estancia Restaurant
La Estancia is another one of the specialty restaurants at Club Med Cancun. The restaurant offers Argentinean flare and if you enjoy meat, you will definitively want to try the New York steak.
A reservation is required and the restaurant is open for dinner and late-night snacks.
La Creperie
With so many dining options, you will not go hungry when staying at a Club Med property. If you’re looking for a snack to enjoy by the pool or the beach, La Creperie has sweet and savory snack selections throughout the day.
You have to try the amazing Nutella Crepes paired with the buttery popcorn. The snack shack also serves up sandwiches, hot dogs, salads and more!
Activities
There is no shortage of activities at Club Med Cancún, and we loved the variety of activities on land and sea that were included during our stay.
With so much to do during the day, I recommend waking up early to enjoy some of the land sports before the weather heats up. I always like to map out what the next day will look like to really take advantage of all of the offerings at the resort.
The Club Med app is a great way to stay up to date with everything happening around the property.
Land activities
Club Med Cancún has multiple tennis courts, pickleball, and archery for guests to enjoy.
The highlight for the kids on this trip was the trapeze and circus school. Yes- a real trapeze where kids can experience what it’s like to fly through the air and jump on the trampoline that overlooks the lagoon!
The circus school is for kids four years old and up and Arianna had the time of her life flipping through the air and reaching new heights. The activity is open to families during specific hours of the day, and yes- adults are able to join in on the fun too. It’s a super fun family activity that is a must-do when on your trip.
Water activities
There is no better place to be than in the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea when visiting Cancun.
Club Med Cancún offers water sports rentals that allow you to really grasp the beauty of the region. I took Arianna paddleboarding for the first time and she loved it. The clear blue water makes it easy to see below the surface and you may even spot some fish when paddling!
The resort also has snorkeling, kayaking, and sailing offered.
Mini Club Med +
Club Med Cancún offers children’s programming for kids 2 to 17 years old, the new Mini Club Med + concept has been meticulously designed for kids from 4 to 11 years old. The service is designed to cultivate creativity, help kids make friends on vacation and grow in confidence through group activities.
We dropped the girls off at the Mini Club Med for a few hours and they had such a great time. They had a water balloon fight at a pool party, played group trivia, and they were even able to dine with the Mini Club Med in a special dining area.
Mini Club Med takes kids on all sorts of adventures to really help make the Club Med experience the best vacation ever!

Entertainment
Club Med Cancun offers nightly entertainment at the center of the resort, which draws a crowd of kids and adults every single night. The entertainment is put on by the G.O. team and every night there is a different performance.
The shows are family-friendly and start at approximately 9:15 p.m. We regularly scheduled our dinners around 7 p.m. to ensure we made time for the show. For those interested in staying up past the show, there is also an after-party that follows nightly.
The shows are a mix of G.O.s performing and guests joining in on the fun. We really enjoyed the karaoke, which brought up guests on stage to perform their favorite songs. Another night the G.O. team performed an incredible circus act that left us mind blown.
There is something for everyone and the Club Med app will give you the daily entertainment schedule.
Themed nights
If you’ve ever been on a cruise, you are probably familiar with a themed night and dress code. Club Med is the only hotel chain I have ever seen that has implemented this and it was so much fun to see everyone get involved!
Every night, the guests and G.O. team are encouraged to participate in the themed night. It was so fun to show up to dinner and see everyone dressed to theme.

Other things to know
Plan ahead when booking a trip to Cancun, Mexico. It’s very important to ensure your passport is up to date as it is required to travel internationally. The U.S. passport agency is facing long delays on passports, if you need to expedite a passport, read my tips here.
Club Med Cancún is a huge property but getting around is easy. They have a buggy driving around the resort to take you to your various destinations. The buggy comes by every 5 minutes and is a fun way to get around.
Be sure to check the nightly themes for your stay so you know to dress accordingly and participate in the theme nights at the hotel.
