Family trip to Palm Springs

I really can’t say it enough… I love living in San Diego. There’s so much to do in our city and we live in close proximity to everything. We may have a high cost of living, but I’ll pay the sunshine tax any day. I love that we live near the beach but also have the ability to take a quick drive to the desert for a mini-vacation.

Growing up, my family and I did a lot of traveling and I want to share the same experiences with my girls. With both of the girls still in car seats, traveling by car is much more realistic and weekend getaways are perfect for our lifestyle.

I remember as a kid my parents would take me to Palm Springs and I have such vivid memories of laying out in the sun in the desert heat and swimming in the pool all night.

This past weekend, we took the girls to Palm Springs for the first time and stayed at the cutest Airbnb. We usually opt-in for a hotel stay, but we wanted to do something different this time. The little Sun Palace home had a private pool and the girls and I pretty much spent the entire stay in the water while Danny grilled out in the backyard.

I looved the vintage/retro decor in the home. Our host, Kelly, also had plenty of activities for the whole family– board games for the kids, adult coloring books and the coolest record player! The house was filled with natural light and vibrant colors. Every corner of the home was filled with beautiful vintage decor and color that brought so much character to the little home!

My absolute favorite piece of furniture in the house was this chair. It was the perfect place to read the girls a book and lounge in after the pool.

105 degree weather called for some palomas by the pool. They are sooo delicious and such a refreshing drink in the summer.

Ingredients:

  • Tajin rim
  • Watermelon slice and a few pieces inside for flavor
  • 1 shot tequilla (we used Don Julio)
  • Squirt

Also, if you are going to the desert, planning your kids’ outfits to match the scenery is essential, right? Natalia’s adorable cactus print dress is from Taylor Joelle and it was the perfect Palm Springs dress.

No vacation is complete without a photo at the front door. Am I right? Click here to book Kelly’s Sun Palace desert home for your next trip.
