Our homeschool space

Well I was not expecting to create a school space for Ari this year and somehow I pulled something together right before school started last week. Living in a small space can be a challenge with distance learning. My “office” is currently the kitchen counter but I wanted Ari to have a space to call her own to help her focus on her work.

Home school set-up must haves for us were:

  • Letter/number printables
  • Markers, crayons, pencils
  • New notebooks and scrap paper
  • Personalized workbooks
  • Educational tools
    • A clock
    • Abacus
    • Play money
    • Play Osmo games

My first idea was a velcro wall corner for all of our letters/numbers and it was super easy to put together. Plus, I added it in a little weather station just like they would have in school.

Here’s what I used:

Thread Mama Story has a bunch of school printables available on their website for just a $5 subscription. I laminated all of my favorite prints and then used velcro for a “peel and stick” wall for the girls. I figured this would be a great way for them to have easy access to their learning materials and also a fun way for them to learn.

I also wanted the girls to have easy access to all of their educational and learning tools. Their art cart was stocked with new colors, craft supplies, etc. Headphones are easily accessible and I have the girls’ Osmo ready to grab if they need some screen time.

Another really creative way to get make the kids home school space “their own” is by using customized workbooks and learning tools. Munchkin Lane has a ton of busy books, work books and flash cards that you can use to complete your home school set-up. They also have number/letter games and personalized coloring books! Use code ALY20

Since Ari spends so much time on the computer for school, having educational games that are screen-free are so important. However, I understand the need to have these screen activities available for kids as well. You can find more of my homeschooling resources here.
