A Ricky Zoom Christmas

The race to Christmas is on! I can not believe how fast this month has zoomed by but I am enjoying every single moment of this season. Christmas is a bit different this year since we didn’t go all out with home decor but we’ve found other ways to get into the Christmas spirit with the girls.

We’ve been doing a bunch of fun holiday projects at home and attending local holiday events whenever we have some spare time. Ari absolutely loves working on DIY projects– she’s such a little crafter and always comes up with unique ideas all on her own. Nati is finally old enough to help out with some of these projects and it’s been fun working together as a team– just like our bike buddies at Ricky Zoom!

Today I am sharing two Ricky Zoom holiday projects that you can do at home to help gear your kids up for Christmas! I love seeing the girls work together, take turns, and enjoy their final creations. There’s a ton of projects you can do that don’t need that many supplies and by working together you can teach your kids a lot about sharing and teamwork!

Racetrack wrapping paper

Ricky is a little red rescue bike who is built for speed! With his bike pals, they race around the sports track and zoom into adventure! We wanted to create personalized wrapping paper this year and created racetrack wrapping paper with just a few supplies and it was so much fun!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Brown butcher paper
  • Scissors
  • Letter stickers
  • A toy motorcycle or paint brush
  • Black paint and paint brushes
  1. The first step is to wrap the present with the butcher paper. Note that you’ll want to wrap a flat box for this project to work well
  2. Once the present is wrapped, let your kids step in for the creative part- Ari wanted to add red and green streamers and motorcycle tracks on it. I dipped the bottom of a toy motorcycle in black paint and let her just run the motorcycle across the wrapping paper to show Ricky zooming into in adventure! You can also use a black paint brush and just dab lines on it to give it a racetrack look.
  3. Wait for the paint to dry and add any accessories that you choose. It can be as simple or as detailed as your kids want! We used letter stickers to write “ZOOM” on the side of the wrapping paper and absolutely loved the final results.

Ricky Zoom Holiday PJs

For our second Ricky Zoom holiday project, we created PJs inspired by the bike pals! Christmas pajamas have always been a fun tradition in our home. It’s so much fun waking up on Christmas morning in your favorite pair of pajamas and this year we DIY’d Ricky Zoom inspired PJs for the girls! Ari wanted to dress as Ricky and Nati chose DJ Rumbler.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Plain red and plain green pajamas
  • Black adhesive paper
  • A cricut
  1. My cousin helped us out with this project (I’m telling you– teamwork!) and we created a lightning bolt for the Ricky pajama. For the DJ Rumbler pajama, we added a hammer with a criss cross screwdriver to represent his robotic arm! It was so cool seeing how you can design and print with the Cricut
  2. Once our designs were created, they were printed and simply ironed on to the pajamas. It was as easy as that!

The girls are so excited to put a zoomtastic spin on our holiday pajamas this year and wake up Christmas morning wearing pajamas that they helped create! The holiday season is spending time together and working on family projects together as a team. The best part about DIYing is that there is no wrong or right way to do it– when kids get involved it can get messy, but it’s about having fun during the process and taking turns so everyone can work together!
