Unplug from social media without disconnecting

Let’s face it unplugging digitally from social media is really hard. Especially if you are a blogger. You have to spend a ton of time writing content, sharing content, engaging with your followers…and the list goes on and on. Unplugging from social media and work is so important but I can definitely see why so many people struggle doing this. Will I lose followers? Will my engagement tank? Nope, not at all.

What if I told you there’s a way to stay connected while still unplugging. That means, no e-mails when you’re off on vacation and no updating your social media while you’re spending time with your kids.

I unplug every single weekend. While I may be out taking photos, I stay away from blogging, engaging (for the most part) and posting on social media. Of course there are some exceptions like a deadline or important e-mail that needs to be answered.

So how do I unplug while staying connected and not looking like I’m going on a digital hiatus? It’s simple..

 Schedule your content

There’s so many ways to schedule your content so you can stay active on social media while unplugging.

HootSuite

You can use Hootsuite to schedule your Instagram, Twitter and Facebook posts. The platform allows you to pre-schedule content across social media so you can remain active and engaging.

Tailwind

Tailwind is a hidden gem, keep your pins in rotation so your blog posts are constantly getting pushed out. Not only does this help when you want to break, you will also increase traffic. Spend a few minutes of every working day, creating new pins for old content, as well as promote your new content. While you are away, you can keep activity flowing to your page by going back and pinning some of your most popular blog posts.

WordPress

This one is obvious but you can write your blog posts and schedule them to publish a later date. On my more organized weeks, I have all my content scheduled for the week by Monday so it can roll out based on my schedule

E-mails

You can also set-up e-mails to go out so you can send out pitches while you’re on vacation. Just delay your message delivery so it goes out on a later date and you are done. I like to do this to spread out my pitches so that everything doesn’t come in at once.

It’s that simple to unplug while staying connected. There’s so many apps and tools these days to allow you to get a digital break while your accounts will still show your just as active as ever.
