The Perfect Fall Casserole Dish for Entertaining

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Smithfield®. The opinions and text are all mine.

Fall weather means it’s time to cozy up and enjoy more time at home with friends and family. We love entertaining and fall dishes are some of my favorite to prepare. We had our family over the other day, and I made a penne casserole that everyone loved featuring my absolute favorite, Smithfield® Anytime Favorites® Diced Ham! Smithfield Anytime Favorites Diced Ham is so versatile, flavorful, and delicious. Plus, it’s high in protein which I absolutely love because it keeps me full and satisfied. I picked mine up from my local Albertsons and I found it in the refrigerated meats section!

This recipe is super easy and perfect for entertaining. It’s a cheesy recipe filled with Smithfield

Anytime Favorites Ham and bacon; it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser. It’s the perfect recipe for hosting parties, as a side dish for the holidays. You can also cut the ingredients below in half for a quiet evening dinner at home.

Total prep time: 30 minutes

Total cook time: 1.5 hours

What you need:

  • 2 boxes of penne pasta
  • 2 packages of Smithfield® Anytime Favorites® Diced Ham (this is a life saver since it’s pre-diced)
  • 1 package of Smithfield® bacon
  • 1 jar of alfredo sauce
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Now, let’s get started!

First, you’ll want to start by boiling the water for the penne and baking the bacon in the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about 35 minutes or until crispy.

Next, cook the pasta for about 2 minutes under the suggested time so it’s not fully cooked. Drain and set aside. The pasta will finish cooking once it’s in the oven.

Time to bring in the Smithfield® Anytime Favorites® Diced Ham. Sauté the ham with a little bit of butter in a saucepan for about 5 minutes until the ham is nicely browned. Then, set aside.

By now, your pasta should be cooked, your diced ham has been browned, and the bacon should be ready. Chop the bacon up and set it aside.

Now that all of your ingredients are cooked, it’s time to mix them together and bring in the alfredo. Add all of the ingredients on top of the pasta and start to mix. Pour in the jar of alfredo sauce and Parmesan cheese (to taste). If you want your casserole to be on the saucy side, you can add a second jar of alfredo. I personally like to just use one jar as you can really taste all the flavors with the ham and bacon, making it really tasty.

Once you have all of your ingredients mixed together, lightly butter a casserole dish and pour in all of the ingredients. Bake it in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-40 minutes until it’s bubbly and the top of the dish is slightly browned. I like to add some additional Parmesan cheese the last 5 minutes that it’s in the oven to get a crispy cheese at the top of the dish– so good!

I love this casserole dish because once it is out of the oven, it is ready to serve. If you are hosting a party, the casserole dish can just be placed at the center of your table. This makes for no dish transfers and such an easy clean-up.
