There’s nothing I love more than spending time with the girls, I seriously soak every second in when I’m with them. As much as I love spending time with them, it’s just as important to take time for your significant other. Danny and I had a 24-hour kids-free staycation at La Estancia in La Jolla and it was exactly what we needed.
We lounged at the pool, I went to the spa and we enjoyed wine-tasting at Trinitas Cellar Wine Bar. It was the perfect weekend getaway and we’ll definitely be making a return soon.
I can not remember the last time I was able to unwind at the pool with a drink in my hand, without chasing around the girls. The pool at La Estancia was incredible– the water was perfect temperature and there was an outdoor firepit right next to the pool bar, where we were able to enjoy some drinks.
We wanted to take full advantage of all of the amenities and ate on-site at Mustangs & Burros, which was delicious. It was the cutest restaurant and the weather was perfect for outdoor seating at night. I absolutely love San Diego around this time of year– it’s nice and sunny in the day but still comfortable where you can just throw on a causal sweater to sit outside at night. I’m lucky enough to call this beautiful city home so I may be a bit biased but I do highly recommend traveling to San Diego late August if you want to experience the perfect amount of sunshine.
La Estancia is one of the most beautiful hotels and it truly has a unique inn experience. Between the gorgeous green courtyard, delicious food, and the remarkable customer service, it made for the best time. While Danny and I enjoyed our alone time for the weekend, we couldn’t help but have the girls join us on Sunday morning for breakfast and to explore the resort on their own. It was the first night Nati had spent away from us and they were both so excited to meet up with us.
