How to find inspiration with a vision board (free templates included)

I remember when I made my first vision board. I was just starting college and that was when magazine were still a big deal so I had a bunch of magazine piled up in my room. I spent days cutting out words and pictures that helped me feel inspired and then would spend time re-arranging and gluing together these things to create a visual representation on what I wanted my year to look like.

Given that I no longer purchase magazines anymore, my vision boards have evolved to become digital versions of what I used to create when I was younger. Still so much fun but thanks to sites like Pinterest and Canva you can easily browse an entire library of inspirational photos and quotes without having to flip through dozens of magazines!

Vision boards provide so much inspiration and what I love the most is you often discover something that you did not know about yourself. You may have one idea of what you dreams and goals look like and when you start putting this bigger picture together, you realize there is much more to it. There may be hidden words or goals that you subconsciously added or you may find yourself seeking joy in a certain image that may have not given you those feeling before.

My 2022 vision board

This year’s inspiration is centered around balance, finding balance between the things I love to do and what I need to do. Having personal time is the most rewarding thing we can have in life and I want to focus on adventuring more, traveling more, and enjoying the small things more with my personal time.

This year’s vision board focuses on:

  • Travel
  • Reading
  • Adventure
  • Family
  • Spending time in the sea
  • Mexico

Additional benefits that cane come from a vision board

  • A relaxing and creative exercise
  • A reminder to stay focused
  • Ability to dig in and discover your goals and dreams
  • Motivates you to keep going throughout the year
  • Encourages productivity and encouragement to reach your goals
  • Promotes positivity (which we can all use more of)
  • Plus so much more!

Some things we do absolutely know are that vision boards are very therapeutic- and they can be done year-round. It’s a great way to get your creativity flowing and find new inspirations.
