There’s nothing like arriving on vacation, settling in, and then realizing you forgot something. This is 100% my husband every single time we go anywhere. He always forgets something causing an unnecessary expense or inconvenience to the store.
While I may be forgetful at pretty much everything else in my life, I somehow do a pretty good job when it comes to packing for vacation.
For starters, I always keep my toiletry bag packed. We go on several weekend getaways throughout the year so I always keep my back stocked and ready to go so all I have to do is grab my make-up and any other daily items I may need to throw in. Quick and easy!
Items I keep packed:
- Extra toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Mini shampoos, conditioners, lotions and face wash
- Hair ties and a brush
- Cotton balls and Q-tips
Keeping this items packed in the toiletry bag really keeps me from scrambling if we decide to take a trip in a day’s notice. I know my necessaries are in there and always re-fill after trips, rather than before.
When it comes to packing, I like to lay everything out on my bed to see what I have before putting it in my suitcase. I go over what I need and once I see it’s all there, I organize it in my bag.
Here’s my free printable list!
When it comes to the girls’ stuff, I always pack their stuff together in one suitcase. I put their outfits together so I don’t have to figure out what they will each be wearing.
For example, I put their bathing suits tacked and the dresses I want them to wear together stacked so I know if I pull it out of the suitcase, I have both of their outfits ready to go.
Since I like to pre-plan my arrival back at home as well, I always put all of our dirty clothes in a disposable bag inside my suitcase. This way, I can keep the dirty clothes separated and the first thing I do when I get home is dump it into the washer!
