Shared Art/Work Space Reveal

I’ve been quite busy around here working on allll the home projects. The funny thing is that I’ve had this vision for months and then in one weekend I just decided to knock out the girls’ art space, along with their room. Why do I do these things to myself?

To say I am happy with the finished result is an understatement. I was so tired of walking into the girls playroom that was filled with tons of toys that they never even touched. I told the girls it was time to donate these items and they happily filled bags and bags of toys to donate to kids across the border.

The girls love working on art projects so I had this idea to transform their playroom into a shared art space for them and a work space for me. With the blog growing every day, I also needed a place to store packages, set-up my laptop, etc. but I also didn’t want to take away their creative room.

A shared space was exactly what we need. I purchased all the furniture at Ikea and the desk is my absolute favorite. It pulls out on the side so two people can work on the desk at the same time. It’s such a functional space and perfect for small-space living. Linking it here. I’m able to work, while the girls work on projects. The side slides in and out so I can make it look nice and neat when we’re not using it.

I also wanted to create a colorful and fun space for the girls and this rainbow wood art was exactly what I needed for the girls. It’s from Khloe Sophia Boutique, she created this custom piece for us and has really great products! The custom wood names on the shelf are actually puzzles and you can purchase those from This & That Etc.

The room is colorful, bright and everything I wanted. If you are tight on space, I highly recommend an art/work space corner for you and your kids. I’m all about making the absolute most of the space we have and it’s been working so well for all of us!

Have fun with your kids and let them tell you what they envision the space to look like! I always ask Ari for her input when it comes to home projects and always take it into consideration during the process. It’s all about meeting halfway when it comes to this stuff and I always put a twist on whatever it is she is envisioning.

For example, she wanted a full art wall. We met in the middle and I created a space for her to hang her very best work. Keep it clean and tidy without overcrowding the room, but also allows her a way to show off all that hard work!
