Staying on track with your health during the pandemic

This post is sponsored by Heal; all opinions are my own

Taking care of our health has always been important but now more than ever we need to take extra care of ourselves. Extra hand washing, social distancing, and taking extra hygiene precautions is obvious but sometimes just catching a cold is inevitable.

Every year during this time (seriously, never fails), the girls catch a winter cold. San Diego’s extreme weather from 90s one week to a drop to 60s just a few weeks after is definitely the cause of it and there is no escaping it in our house. It always starts with Arianna, then Natalia gets it, and then Danny or I end up with the sniffles and a cough a few days later.

Even though I know the girls are likely to just need some self-care and home remedies to get them better when they get sick, now is not the time to take chances and skip out on speaking to a doctor. We do not want to take any chances and misdiagnose the girls without speaking to a trusted provider. Taking the girls to a germy doctor’s office in the midst of COVID and a flu season was not something I was interested in so I set-up a video call with a trusted provider through Heal.

Heal is an online health company that offers web and mobile based telehealth and house call services for licensed and trusted doctors. The app makes it easy to make healthcare appointments with providers during a time when we may want to avoid that contact at a doctor’s office.

I set-up an appointment to get the girls checked out using the Heal app just a few days after Ari came down with her cold. She never caught a fever, but she had so much mucus and a cough, so I wanted to get a trusted provider’s opinion. Setting up an appointment was quick and easy- there were lots of available time slots available and I was able to get Ari an appointment for the following day. I even had to change the time slot for the appointment twice since meetings kept popping up and I still had no issue with rescheduling.

When I spoke to the provider about the girl’s symptoms, she confirmed that it sounded like the common cold. However, to be safe, she did recommend we keep the girls at home and have them isolate from other family members until their symptoms go away. We can never be too safe right now and that is what we planned on doing to ensure we don’t spread any unnecessary germs.

The Heal app allows you to see the same provider time after time which is also really comforting to know in case we need a follow-up appointment that we will be able to chat with the same doctor who already knows what was going on with the girls. I also enjoyed that I didn’t feel rushed during our conversation- you can talk all you need and ask all of the questions you have in mind to get the best level of care possible.

When you use Heal, you know what it will cost every single time. The cost of the appointment is shown to you before you make an appointment and there are no hidden fees or expenses that will surprise you. Even without insurance, you pay a flat fee of $79 a month for a video call or $159 for a house call.

Now is not the time to skip out on healthcare appointments or check-ups either. It’s so easy to fall behind on these healthcare appointments in fears of stepping into a doctor’s office but it is so important to not fall behind on these essential services at this time. When you need treatment or essential vaccines, you can set-up a house call to ensure you are getting the care you need in the comfort of your home. This is such a great service for those that are at higher risk of getting sick during flu season and need to get access to vaccines and in person care.

Insured or not, anyone can use Heal. Not only is it affordable, but it’s also a high-quality service so you know you are going to speak to doctors that are able to provide you with reliable advice.  You can schedule an appointment with a provider on the Heal website or download the app to easily schedule appointments, reschedule to easy. Super easy to use and a great way to avoid falling behind on healthcare appointments during this time.
