Easy New Year’s Resolutions That You Can Stick to in 2021

This time of year is always filled with a ton of emotions- and this year more than ever. It could be eagerness for the approaching new year and the endless positive opportunities that could come along with it or uneasiness about the unknown 2021 will carry. 

For a lot of us, it is a time dedicated solely to reflecting on ourselves and the past year. Now is the time to truly look back on the past year and analyze what you’ve accomplished and what you’d like to change. Taking a look back at the year better helps you to understand what goals you should create for 2021 and map out a plan on how to accomplish it.

Explore the great outdoors

After being quarantined for a huge portion of 2020, we know that we could all use some extra fresh air, sunshine, and natural environments in our daily lives. Make the attainable goal of spending at least one hour outside in nature, during this upcoming year! Studies show that stepping out of your house and into the great outdoors will greatly reduce the amount of stress and individual feels and is under. Now is as good a time as any to throw on some old sneakers and take a tranquil walk or a stimulating jog outside!

We started doing this in 2020 and do nightly bike rides as a family and it has been such a nice way to unwind at the end of the day, get some fresh air, and spend time together as a family. 

Be a mentor to someone who needs it

We all have hidden talents and why not use that to help someone else? Find your calling and run with it!  Now is the time to find someone that you can share your wisdom with- whether you want to share relationship advice, parenting tips, or business motivation- find a way to use your voice to help others. Being a mentor to someone is extremely rewarding and will leave you feeling as if you’ve finally left your mark on the world. 

Call your friends and family 

Take at least 10-15 minutes out of your busy schedule to call those friends or family members that you haven’t talked to recently. Checking in on your friends and family is a wonderful way to truly stay connected to your loved ones. Showing that you care in this intimate, yet easy, way will allow your relatives and friends to know that you are thinking of them, even during all the craziness that life can bring.  

Listen to new genres of music or dive into a podcast

It’s so easy to stick to the same old routine of listening to the same genre of music, which can feel really repetitive at times. This year try stepping out of your comfort zone by listening to new types of music! Have you always listened to pop and rap music? During 2021, try listening to country or even alternative tunes. You could discover a newfound love for a genre of music that you never even thought of listening to before!

Also a great time to dive into a podcast- there’s so many good ones out there and a ton of different genres too. Dive into a true crime podcast, or educate yourself with an informative topic to help grow your business.

I like to focus on things I can stick too and not overdo it. Also, a reminder that you can set new goals at any time- you don’t need to wait for a new year to pick up a health habit or change in your life.
