How we found our balance with distance learning

Distance learning has officially been extended for us and I am finally at peace with it. When we were first told that we were going to be doing virtual learning, I had NO idea how I was going to balance working from home while helping Ari with her school work. While the first few weeks were chaotic and stressful, I feel like we finally got the hang of things over here!

Staying organized is key. I live for my planner and use it to schedule all of my projects and timelines. I also started to incorporate Ari’s schedule into my planner too so I can see all of our tasks in one place.

I love to color code and add stickers to my planner to make it fun and help keep me organized. Pilot Pen has a ton of colorful pens and the FriXion pens are erasable so I can easily erase items when my schedule shifts and it leaves my planner looking nice and clean, rather than scribbled everywhere (major pet peeve).

We’ve also been using Pilot Pens in Ari’s learning. She uses the FriXion erasable pens when doing her math homework and creative writing so she can easily erase any errors in her work- just like a pencil would! She loves that she is able to add some color to her school work.

One way we’ve been using the pens in her creative writing is by having her write verbs, nouns and adjectives all in different colors! It’s a great visual reminder for her and a fun way to learn.  For math, we mix up our colors for addition and subtraction!

Getting creative in learning is so important right now. Learning at home is a challenge all in itself but no one said we can’t have fun with it!

I also like to use positive reinforcement throughout the day and remind Ari to take frequent breaks to help keep her engaged and interested in her school work. I write her colorful notes using my Pilot pens to tell her how proud I am of her, or write down gentle reminders so she remembers to pay attention and stay on track.

Pilot FriXion come in a variety of styles and colors, including pens, markers and even highlighters. The pens write beautifully and are a must-have for my work and Ari’s school. You can find an assortment of products available at Target!
