A letter to my baby

Dear Natalia,

It’s been one whole year since the world met you, but I have known you and loved you for much longer than that. I can still remember the day I found out I was carrying you, I tried to surprise your dad by placing a “bun in the oven” and he definitely missed the joke. I showed him the positive test and his eyes watered up. We loved you from the second we found out you were going to be a part of our lives. And your sister? She told me she “waited her whole life you.”

I carried you for 9 months, approximately 273 days.  That means I’ve known you for 393,120 minutes longer than anyone else and therefore, I love you the most. For 9 months I dreamed of what you would look like and now I get to kiss those beautiful cheeks every night. You are a blessing to my life and everyone else in it.

Watching you grow over the past year has been a joy to watch. The way you interact with your sister, your first baby steps, and open-mouth kisses are moments I will always remember. Watching you and Arianna love each other is one of the most fulfilling things to see as a mother. I hope the bond you two have with each other now will last a lifetime.

I know your future will be bright and while obstacles will come along your way, know that I will be here for you. Through the laughs, the cries, the good and the bad—I will always be here for you. I can not wait to see where life takes you and I promise to be your biggest fan along the way.

You turned our lives upside down in all of the best ways possible.  Happy first birthday to the cutest little ham out there. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face and reminding me that it’s the little things in life that are the most meaningful.

I’ve loved you for 638 days and I will love you for a million more. Here’s to the first of many birthdays my Nati Bear, can’t wait to celebrate with you, your sister and dad at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Love,

Mommy
