A weekend in Santa Monica at the Fairmont Miramar

Santa Monica is filled with palm tree lined streets, delicious restaurants, plenty of shopping and home to the Fairmont Miramar- a gorgeous resort that’s just steps away from the ocean and home to the famous, Fig Restaurant.

Santa Monica is just a short two hour drive from San Diego and a very central location in LA. If you are looking to spend a weekend in Los Angeles, I highly recommend Santa Monica. You can easily get to Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Malibu and other popular destinations. Just a 25 minute drive to Rodeo Drive, The Grove or Venice Beach.

And just a few blocks away from the Fairmont, you will find 3rd & Promenade, which consists of outdoor shopping, dining and more. We took a short walk over from the hotel for ice cream and did a little bit of shopping.

Walking through the Fairmont Miramar gives you that old classic charm feel. Gorgeous architecture and every room is filled with amazing decor. Staff was also beyond friendly and the hotel was extra cautious with health and safety regulations. Temperature checks were done for each guest upon arrival and hand sanitizing stations were located throughout.

We took full advantage of the hotel’s amenities and spent our days lounging by the pool. Being across the street from the ocean, you get that cool ocean breeze in the mornings and it was amazing to see the marine layer come in during the evening. The weather was mid-70s all weekend which was a perfect escape from the 90 degree weather we’ve been having in central San Diego lately.

We made reservations to the hotel’s Poolside Cinema, an outdoor movie experience out at the pool. Not only can you enjoy the pool during the movie (yes, it’s heated), you can also order food and drinks from The Fig Restaurant. We watched Hook under the stars and it was probably the highlight of our vacation for all of us. SO relaxing and the girls loved the entire experience.

We ate at the Miramar’s famous Fig Restaurant for breakfast and dinner– and both were delicious. For breakfast, I ordered The Figs Benedict which was a must try. This is also a popular restaurant for celebrity sighting and we saw a few during our stay as well.

Danny got his hair cut at the cutest barber shop on the property and the girls and I were hoping to get our nails done at Exhale Spa but we ended up running out of time. We did get a chance to peek inside the spa and this is a must on our list for our next visit. They also offer yoga and other fitness classes outdoors, which overlooks the ocean! This was also a reminder that I need to get in the habit of packing my workout clothes on every trip.

We love staying at resorts that offer family amenities to take full advantage of our accommodations. I loved that the Fairmont Miramar offered complimentary bicycles and on-site ice cream and coffee at the Dogtown Coffee for a quick treat.

We felt extra safe at the hotel with all of the measures they were taking during the pandemic and highly recommend stopping at The Fairmont Miramar during your next to LA.\

We received a complimentary stay//all opinions are my own.
